For World AIDS Day in 2013, we collaborated with Smart University and Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York to develop a community based program that would help inform residents about safe sex and HIV/AIDS Awareness.
The program included developing several artworks about practicing safe sex and recognizing women and youth who are living with HIV/AIDS as the powerful beings that they are, a community art exhibit at East Harlem Cafe that shared artwork by the women in SMART's art program, and a holiday party held at Union Settlement where the community came together to complete a mural about AIDS awareness.
Thru online messaging and grassroots print out and posters, it was one of the most successful programs around HIV/AIDS awareness conducted in the neighborhood.
